Doing business sustainably
We work with natural products. We therefore have a great responsibility to treat nature and the environment with care and respect. Our clients and consumers can rely on our products being sustainable, safe, and produced in a way that is fair to the parties involved. With a view to future generations, we focus our sustainability policy on the following issues:
- Grower and product
We always comply with food safety requirements. We encourage our growers and suppliers to work as sustainably as possible in the fields of energy, water, waste, crop protection, and working conditions. All our Dutch growers are members of GRASP, GlobalGAP's social module. In addition, we require our suppliers to be members of GRASP or an equivalent system such as: Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI), Initiatief Duurzame Handel (IDH, Sustainable Trade Initiative), BSCI, Sedex, and Fair Trade.
Our exports to Switzerland are transported by road. We aim for the shortest chain and for the lowest possible CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. For example, we centralize our flows of goods, invest in our infrastructure, and load shipments directly from the grower without compromising on quality.
We use sustainable packaging. For example, we developed boxes from tomato fibres and we try to avoid using non-recyclable plastic wherever possible. Research teaches us which packaging best suits the different products, so their quality is always optimal right through the supply chain.
As a family business, we are committed to the development, safety, and health of our employees. We consider training, guidance, and refresher courses to be essential. Naturally, you will find fresh fruit at all our workplaces to help keep our employees healthy!
